An ultra-sensitive test designed to detect a DNA mutation associated with the rare blood disorder systemic mastocytosis (SM). That is the latest launch from Uppsala-based Rarity Bioscience, which is also presenting the test at a mastocytosis conference in Germany this week.
Systemic mastocytosis is a disease caused by abnormal mast cells. Symptoms vary widely, ranging from allergy-like symptoms, skin flushing and itching to abdominal cramps and diarrhoea.
